Art history teaches you the different processes used in art, and you study many of the important pieces of art in the world. When you study fine arts, you learn the skills you need to pursue a career in art. You will concentrate on projects and work on foals. In Art History, you need to pay attention to detail and understand how the smallest detail reveals information about the work or its time period. 

Careers From Fine Arts

There are a number of different careers you can pursue if you are in the school of Fine Arts. You can become an artist and actually specialize in a particular field. You can focus on Art History and become a historical scholar. However, you can also become a graphic designer, an art director, a set designer, an exhibit designer, or an art teacher. 

However, if you are an Art Historian, you will work with museums, archeologists, or in an academic setting. No matter which major you pursue, there are plenty of courses available.  

What Do You Learn as an Art History Major?

As an art history major, you will learn about works of art from all time periods. It helps you understand how art communicates to different people at different times in history and the impact it has on different cultures. 

There are philosophical, social, political, and economic reasons for art movements, and you will learn to connect them to different works. You will also build cross-cultural understanding skills. Art is often directly related to the culture it comes from, and it helps you learn how different cultures express themselves. 

In the end, you will be able to understand the visual culture and will have an advantage in society as you will start to recognize how images from art, as well as advertising and more, have a growing influence on the lives of everyone.
